Success Story – Alison Hughes//Weddings

Alison is a Wedding Planner & Coordinator on the weekends and a Legal Assistant and Corporate Event Planner during the week. It’s quite a lot to juggle, but when you have a strong creative streak, you can’t help yourself but to find an outlet that fulfils that creative side. She’s the perfect example of how you can meld two very different sides of yourself together when you have the network, resources and support.

How would you describe yourself at the start of your journey?
Dove right in after studying wedding and event planning with AAWEP and didn’t realise how much more I had to learn! At the time I was over committing to far too much work.

How would you describe yourself now?
Still loving events and tweaking the way I do things. I was doing everything the stressful way, but now have found a good work life balance! It’s never ending learning!

How do you feel about your investment of time and money into the Membership?
It’s worth the sign up based on the amazing friendships and support network you form alone, the rest is a bonus. I’m always on the go and hardly sit in one spot for long. I get so much out of the podcasts and webinars, especially during the long 3 hour drives to and from my mum and dad’s house when visiting them on the coast.

What are some of your strongest beliefs and values?
I love connecting with clients on a level like I’m their friend helping them with their plans. I’m all about service, being responsive, true to my every word, reliable, a problem solver and trustworthy.

What problem were you looking to solve?
Feeling I wasn’t receiving as many wedding enquiries as I wanted and that I was not keeping up with technology and social media trends.

What were you thinking then?
I needed direction and to keep building my industry knowledge.

How did that make you feel?
Desperate to find a solution which is both affordable, and provides ample online opportunities to learn.

How did you come into contact with TWE?
You came to me! Your promotion for your instagram workshop back in 2016 appeared in my feed. It sparked an idea that I’d love to build my social media skills, so I signed up to a workshop! Since then, you launched The Wedding Experts, and I couldn’t wait to sign up to the membership as I’ve seen TWE grow and grow with some really friendly, supportive and inspiring vendors.

How did you find out about our Membership?
Through following the group on social media

What did you think of it when you first learned about it?
Keen to get amongst it and meet fantastic vendors and keep up to date with industry changes

What thoughts were running through your head?
I really wanted to sign up straight away, but had to wait until the timing is right with finances. I knew it would be an investment and I was right.

How do you feel now?
Really glad to have made the plunge to sign up and looking forward to learning more from The Wedding Experts.

What are you thinking now?
Want to make more time to check out your bundles and start a real plan for my business! I’ve been mainly listening to podcasts when travelling places and using the group social media pages for advice – which I’ve loved!

What changes for good did it make in your life and life of family members?
Learning on the move means I have more time for my husband and friends! It’s so convenient and easy!
